FAQ
We understand that most people have a home to sell in order to facilitate their move to Garden Village. Therefore, once you have paid your deposit on the apartment of your choice, we will hold the apartment for a period of 3 months giving you time to sell your current home.
Simple matters will be dealt with straight away and politely so that everyone is happy with the solution.
Once you have chosen your apartment, the deposit payable by you is $20,000. In the unlikely event you decide not to proceed this deposit is fully refundable. If you do proceed to settlement, the $20,000 forms part of your overall ingoing contribution.
No – there is no Stamp Duty payable
Residents in The Banksia will pay a Recurrent Charge of $633.88* (per apartment) a month. The Recurrent Charge is billed monthly and debited directly from your nominated bank account.
Note: *The Recurrent Charge is reviewed annually and presented to the residents for consideration and approval.
The Recurrent Charge covers the costs associated with the day-to-day operation of the Village including, but not limited to:
- Wages
- General maintenance
- Grounds maintenance
- Council rates
- Common area cleaning and electricity
- Rubbish removal
- Insurance
- Emergency call monitoring
You will be responsible for:

- Water usage
- Telephone / internet
- Contents insurance
Each Banksia apartment includes the follow:

- Grab rails (in bathrooms)
- Clothes dryer

Located close to The Banksia are a number of clotheslines available for use by residents. In order to maintain the overall appearance of the building, residents are not permitted to hang washing on their balconies. A clothes-dryer is provided in each apartment.
In order to maintain a peaceful environment for all to enjoy, other than a fish, pets are not permitted within the Garden Village community.
Garden Village is an approved home care provider. Our experienced and dedicated team of professionals can assist residents to remain living in their homes for as long as possible by providing:
- Cleaning
- Laundry
- Meals
- Personal care
- Medication management
- Social and Wellness support
If or when the time comes whereby you require a level of care that can no longer be provided in your independent living unit, we will do our best to assist you to relocate to our onsite aged care facility. A move to the aged care facility would be dependent on an assessment and bed availability.
Staying connected with family and friends is encouraged and important to your overall wellbeing. Approval from Management must be sought prior to any short-term (overnight) visitors.
Yes. Each Banksia apartment has a private balcony with direct access from your living and/or bedroom. There is an outdoor tap and drain located on each balcony.
The solar panels will power all the common areas in The Banksia for 24/7. There are batteries in the basement that can store the power the solar panels generate.
The Banksia complex is a non-smoking environment throughout. Residents are not permitted to smoke within their apartments or in any of the common areas.
Whilst it is our preference for all residents to be fully vaccinated, we appreciate that for some this is not either possible or preferable. If you are not fully vaccinated you would still be able to live within our Community however you would not be able to participate in social activities or use the facilities and amenities.
