Intergenerational Program
1 in 4 older Australians experience loneliness.
Share the magic of virtual reality
In 2024 thanks to your generous support Garden Village reached our fundraising goal to bring Virtual Reality armchair travel to Port Macquarie. Virtual Reality is now transforming residents lives through immersive experiences.
Our next goal is to connect generations through an intergenerational project pairing seniors with secondary students to improve health, wellbeing and happiness tackling loneliness and social isolation.
How to get involved
Intergenerational Connections
At Garden Village, we believe in the power of intergenerational relationships. Our innovative program will bring together seniors and young people to create meaningful connections that enrich lives across generations. This face to face program aims to connect older and younger people to foster meaningful relationships that benefit both age groups. By reducing isolation and building genuine connections, the program helps improve mental health through mutual respect and joy.

Sponsor the VR Armchair Travel Interconnect Program
A big thanks to EziWay Salary Packaging for becoming our first Destination Sponsor for the Intergenerational Connect Project. Thanks to the support of sponsors like Eziway, Garden Village residents can engage with students in new and exciting ways. Students are natural adopters of technology and well placed to support seniors with this program. SilVR Adventures’ VR Solution addresses four of the World Health Organization’s (WHO) twelve recommendations for reducing the risk of cognitive decline: staying physically active, engaging in cognitive training, maintaining social activity, and managing depression.
